The Expansion of a Coffee and Pastry Empire

When sisters Amy and Chrissy took off into the world to pursue their dreams and interests, they had no idea that they would eventually end up starting a thriving business together. Amy set out to study at Chicago’s French Pastry School, learning the secret to making delectable baked goods, and Chrissy explored the mysteries of coffee by working at B&W Specialty Coffee.

After enough time had passed that they both felt fully confident in their respective skills, they put together a plan to open their own shop in their hometown of Minneapolis. In December of 2013, this plan became a reality – Empire Coffee & Pastry was started.

Their coffee shop and bakery offers a number of beverages, including specialty coffees and sodas, and the pastry menu – featuring muffins, scones, quiche, biscuits, and more – changes daily, keeping their customers coming back for more.

In 2016, the sisters decided that they wanted to open another location, using Rapids to supply equipment like refrigeration units, ovens, prep tables, and smallwares. Their new shop is located close to where Central and Broadway intersect, and brings more options to the table. Now, along with the scrumptious pastries their customers have come to expect, they will be able to choose from a number of lunch menu items as well. Their coffee selection has also expanded, featuring more local options alongside the B&W Specialty coffees they were already serving.
