Jockey Boxes: Cold Beer Dispensing Made Simple

Beer coolers are a great addition to just about any outdoor event - they allow you to dispense crisp, refreshing beer without the hindrance of needing an electrical outlet!

While there are many styles of jockey boxes available, the most popular options tend to have one thing in common: they have two taps, which means you can offer more than one type of beer at a time! You can also speed up your serving process by setting up both taps to serve the same type of beer.

Two-Tap 50' Coil Cooler

A coil cooler's design involves passing the beer through coils submerged in ice to get your beer up to temperature before it hits the faucet. The ABS molded liner of this cooler incorporates foamed insulation to prevent moisture build-up, and the side handles make for easy transport.

Coil coolers are a better option for your event if you are unable to keep your beer keg below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. They are more effective at cooling your beer before it reaches the faucet because the length of the coils. When a cold plate cooler is used, your beer will only move through around 18' of tubing, which provides significantly less time for cooling than a 50' coil.

A cold plate jockey box runs your beer through a flat aluminum cold plate that is located at the bottom of the cooler and covered with ice. The ice keeps the rectangular plate cold, which allows the beverage to be cooled as it quickly travels through the cold plate's interior.

If you can keep the temperature of your beer below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, a cold plate cooler is a solid choice for you.
